We have done it !

Photo taken by WK Chan.

We have done it!
Congrat to Yen Erl , Wai Yee who had completed thier maiden full marathon. Ben had achieved his best timing in Singapore marathon by completing within 3 hr 31 mins, I have completed within 4 hr 29mins.

It is test of endurance in a very sunny but windy day, but all of us have done it by completing the 42.195km distance... a distance where they say we need to run from KL to Seremban :)

I break my own record by going to toilet 6 times during the race and drinking water every 1.5km after 20k mark in ECP. I was not thirsty but I think i need that little break to rest. However, I wish I don't keep this habit as the race in Malaysia will not have so many water station and toilets.

I think is time to move on and target for a better timing as I have stayed in the completion time of 4 hrs 30mins for all my 3 full marathon. Let start training and aim for a sub 4 race next time... eheh...

Specially Thanks to Chan for taking this picture for me .

Are you ready??

Is Friday again and I m going to have my 3rd Full Marathon in 8 days time. Excited ? Nervous? ..hmm... is more like excited coz 42k is a too long distance for you to feel nervous :P

I have 2 enjoyable run this week,
Tuesday - CBD run with Pacer. I am following DO and Dream running in 4hr pace. The pace is comfortable for 10k run, but not sure it is still comfortable if persist for 42k .
Thursday - Normal running lab run where we run Explanade this week. The crowd is lesser this week and predict it will be lesser next week due to the race on Sunday.

Attended the hot yoga flow on Wednesday as well, this time the yoga class is not that hot, tiring and unbearable like last time and I can follow most of the pose :) Will need to go more often to get myself stronger.

FRIDAY --- 2 more hours to off work! I m going to collect race bib with Ben later, and will have a 16k run on ECP tomorrow. And hopefully will have an enjoyable shopping on the rest of the day:)

I will also need to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dearest Sister, TZE! Hope her dreamsssss will come true soon!!

Bought 2 shoes in a day

Finally waited for Ben to be free to and go for Shoes shopping with me. We went to running lab and bought a pair of Mizuno Inpires... :)

Coincidently there is a 30% discount on Adidas product for SG runners in Cathay Cineleisure yesterday and I have been eyeing on a Adidas running vest .... Hence,we decided to go there to take a look.

I first trying on different shoes like Adizero tempo, Supernova but they don't have my size. Just when I thought I will go home with just the running vest..hhehe.. Ben saw this Adizero Breeze in the classic color (black and white) which is my favourite. Wihout hesitate more than 5 mins.. I try on the shoes and bought it.

Now.. I have 4 shoes in total.. one Mizuno that already with me for 3 yrs and is time to retire. A green ASIC DS trainer, a blue Mizuno Inspire and a black and white Adidas Adizero Breeze :)

Hello Again

It has been a while since I last updated my blog. There is too many things happen this few month that I can't recall all of them . But that is some major change in my life, that is I am moved from KL to Singapore. I started my new job and is already 3 months old ..Huyeah!!.

As for running, I went for Ediken run in Putra Jaya, Genting Trailblazer last week , hiking in Pine Hill, Bkt Datuk:) Compare with last year, I think I had cut down a lot of races as it is not as convenient now to go for the race...:( But I m still enjoying very much in going back to Malaysia to join all the races :)

I have been busy with wedding planning recently and had created our wedding website. http://www.mywedding.com/benwedyeehua/

I will say the progress for wedding planning is quite ok for now as I have my sister in KL taking care of all the details in KL and Ben who is taking care of the planning in Singapore :) Sound like I am not doing anything ... hhee.. I think when we approach "THE DAY" , we will have clearer idea on the progress.

Will stop for now and will come back later on some update on Genting Trailblazer.

laze around...

I m so sorry for being lazy for nearly 2 months. I have lazed around the Singapore and Malaysia home, this is really an unplanned long vacation. Based on my original plan, I should be working by today.. but things will never go as smoothly as u want.. i m still staying at home today... the different is .. this time i m not sitting at the home in KL... but in Singapore.

Anyway.. i did a lot within this 2 month ssince my last day in IBM on 14th May. Let recall.. i stayed at home a few days until 16th May and go to KK until 20th May. I continue to stay at home at Villa Banyan until 25th and went to Cameron highland to climb Mount Irau with Tony Q's group . Of coz, within this week .. i met some of my friends and did a lot of yoga and running:)

I m back in KL again on 27th and went to Sg on 31st for an interview and back to KL again on 1st June in order to go to Taiwan on 2nd June. I were in Taiwan until 11th June.. This is a wonderful trip, although the Taiwan weather had not been very unfriendly to me , but I enjoyed myself and feel happy to expose to other country's culture. I m very glad that I met a lot of friendly relatives and friends that willing to spend all thier time to make us feel like home in Taiwan.

I m back in KL again on 11th June.. and this should be the worst week within my holiday as I found out I flunk the job that I interviewed before I left to Taiwan and I have no trip to look forward anymore. I must face the reality now and start looking for job. I sat at home for a week again and I came to Singapore on 18th June. Keep myself busy on the first 3 days in Singapore to prepare for Ben's birthday on 20th June. I enjoyed the first 3 days and finally start my job hunting on 21st June. Staying in front of comp most of time.. look at different website and click on any job that I think I might have a chance..:)

Day by day.. Finally come to 23rd June. Penang Internation full marathon ... the 2nd full marathon in my life. I travel to Penang on 23rd and start the race on 24th Morning 3pm. I enjoyed the scenary, the early morning weather. I did not allowed myself to stop in this race, and I only have one slogan in my mind.. "enjoy the run and complete it without walking". I thought I will done better this time.. but I completed it within 4 hrs 36mins which is 10 mins slower than my KL marathon. A bit dissapointed but I think I have done my best this time and really proud of myself to complete it without walking or having any negative thought this time. Big thanks to Siok Bee to compete with me during the race. Spotting her during the race.. we both overtaking each other..really encourage me to stay focus and run faster during the race :)

Run is over... i m back to normal life again.. but life is still not too bored for me now.. because I went for eye Lasik on 26th June. The Lasik went very well and I will have to say it is safe , quick , not painful at all. It happen too quick for u to react :) Just remember to an obedient patient and listen to doctor instruction all the time.

Due to eye surgery , i need to rest for 2 days, no TV or comp for long hours. The worst case is no run or yoga for a week, no swimming , facial for a month. I have to endure... and tomorrow will be the last day of my one week and hope I can resume to run tomorrow. Otherwise, I might turn to be a big fat pig soon ....

Within this boring 3 to 4 days... I start doing my wedding plan... list down item that need to do. I hope this long vacation will end soon as i m very very eager to go back to work force and be join back the white color working group again..otherwise I m just afraid i will get too slack if this vacation is going to extend longer :(

Mount KK climb - 16th - 20th June

18th of june.. 18 of us start our mission to climb the highest peak in Malaysia... mount KK. 4095.2km high.
This is the detail of our trip :
First day - 16th June (weather : Raining & cloudy)
Arrive at KK , free and easy. We went to Centre point and Millenium square for our grocery shopping for the KK climb.
Went for city sight seeing by foot at night to look for good food. At the end, we settle with Sabah "bak kut teh" which is so so only.

Second day - 17th June (weather : Sunny and no rain)
Proceed to Mesilau park in preparation for the climb. We stop by a hanging bridge (Jambatan Tamparuli), and Pekan Nebalu. Bought souvenir , some local desert and banana in the Pekan Nebalu. The souvenirs are cheap and the deserts are cheap and delicious :)

We have 2 bedroom with 9 in each room. Went for some tea in the cafe in the afternoon and everyone start our "show hand" and packing for the bags to bring up to the mountain next day, and the bags to pass to porters.

Have dinner in Mesilau park and went to bed by 10pm to prepare to wake up "very" early in next day.

Third day - 18th June *the CLIMB DAY* (Weather: Extremely good, only rain on 3pm)

Wake up at 5.30am, have our early breakfast and one last check for the climb. Proceeds to the Mesilau gate at 7.30am. They splitted 18 of us to 3 group -

AC18
Shirlee, Lai Tee, Mei Chien, Fatma, Ezreen and Tony
AD18
Yen Erl, Annie, Poh Wai, Jee Ing, Bee Hong and Kok Foong
AE18
Me, Tze, Wee, Ben, Cham and Ki Woei

AC18 start at 7.30am, AE18 start at 7.45am and AD18 only start at 8am due to their guide was late. Anyway, the group separated and merged together according to our pace. The hike was tough in the first few hundreds meter due to non-stop steep climb and became better after 1km . It was continously down slope , crossing water fall and river. We enjoyed this trail very much by chatting and taking photo along the way.

The trail become harder after the hanging bridge. That was never endling of slope and stair cases. This part of the trail was really testing our mind and stamina. However, we still try out best to keep chatting , taking photo along the way to forget bout the toughness of the trail.

After a while.. we arrive at a flat ground with the breathtaking and spectacular view which I call this the "heaven" of the trail . We were among the trees, flowers and the cloud.

And later.. it lead to the Layang-Layang site (which the junction between Timbuhan trail and Mesilau Trail) . We enjoy our short break here and of coz photo taking again. Ben remained in that spot for an hour to ensure everyone move up of the mountain instead of choosing the path to go down . (which we called "patah balik" in malay)

The last few 500m to Lapan rata was the toughest trail that we had experienced as we were all tired but still had to climb the rocky trail. However, with our toughest mind , we successfully concur it and reach Lapan rata by 1.45am (the earliest) and 3pm (The latest).

We stay overnight in Gunting Laganan (the non heated hostel). We slept around 7pm in prepare for the 2nd day climb up to the peak.

Fourth day - 19th June (Weather : Rain in 12am until 2am, good weather until 12pm in the afternoon)
We woke up at 12.30am and discover Ben was having fever. Except Ben and Wee (who complained bout the pain and decided not to climb the day before)... the rest of us get ourselves gear up with jacket, gloves, headlight..etc and start our journey to the peak.

Our all girls team (AE18) start the journey 1st and leave around 2.30am. The starting was always hard due to our legs were not warm up. The trail from Gunting Laganan to the peak pretty steep and rocky. With the cold weather.. it was torturing and can dampen our spirit easily. Tze, Ki Woei and I were together along the journey and try out best to take photo in each KM. We reach the peak at 5.30am and able to capture the sun rise. We only stay in the peak for half an hour and see most of our team member reach the peak before we move down.

Going down the trail was more tough than climbing up as the sky were bright now and it can clearly see the gradiant of the trail. People with height phoebia may have a problem to get down from the peak. We arrive back at Gunting Laganan around 9 am and we had breakfast in Lapan rata and continue our journey down to Timbuhan gate from 10.45am.
As this is my 2nd time to KK with all the training before this climb, going down was actually easier for me and I separated with the rest of the team and use my fastest speed to go down the moutain. I took 2 hrs 45min .. which reach Timbuhan gate around 1.30pm. Ben was there while I arrive as he uses his climberton speed and ran down the mountain. He took 1 and 1/2 hrs from Lapan Rata to Timbuhan gate.

Tze arrive around 1.45pm , which is only 15 mins later than me .. not too bad !! We waited for the whole team to arrive and leave KK park and back to KK town .

Fifth day - 20th May (Weather : Sunny)
Finally , this is our last day. Walk with Ben to look for public bus to airport at 7.30am and check out by 9am. We went to Manukan and Sapi island in the afternoon. I did some snokelling in Manukan, and had BBQ lunch in Sapi. Hang aroung in the San Frac coffee house for 2 hrs in KK town before heading to airport to go back to KL.

My personal test result

Last day at work @8th May

Finally come to the "DAY" when I have been waiting since last year September. I have been doing a lot of farewell with other colleagues and always trying to imagine how will be my own farewell ...

When the "DAY" really arrive, the feeling is very normal because there is still emails to reply, issues to handle, reports to prepare, vouchers to sign.. the only different is I have a very relax mind and only worry all the issues until today and as tomorrow issues will be handle by my best friend "Cham " :)

This day become special and unforgettable due to my most respected staffs ... Nafizah, Ezreen, Ellyani, Raihan and Siti .. thank you for the surprise... flowers and gift .. and the farewell dinner that you have held for me . I will never forget all of you and thank you again to be my "guinea pig" for the past year to try on different managerial style and to train myself to be a better person.

From TTDI 14th flr, move to 19th flr, move to uptown, move to Bandar Utama now, this is my most unforgettable 5 years... earn some trips to Singapore, Thailand, Australia and US.. I have never thought this will be my journey when I joined the company . Although there is a lot of times we does not agree with the company but I can't deny that it is a place that groom me and train to become the new "me" now :)

I know a lot of friends here.. Cham, Ki Woei, Yen Erl, Shirlee, Ti Jean, Carol... really happy to know you and I enjoy all your companion in these years . Hope the friendship will not stop here and will continue forever.

I m looking forward for the break and staying at home to be slack... This is the only time where the time is 100% belong to mine ..

Ipoh Chinese Chamber Centennial Half Marathon @ 6th May

A memorable run for me as this is my first time getting 2nd prize from a race, but this is pure lucky as there is 10k bomba run in KL where most of the talented runner participate in the KL run and did not travel 3 hrs to Ipoh for this run.

I believe this is the least crowd that I have come across among all my races, and I think only total 15 to 16 women participate in the open category... thus it is very lucky for me to get 2nd prize using 1hr 48 mins. The total distance is less than 21k , someone told me is 18 or 19K... anyway, I do enjoy the prize giving and the additional income that earned from this race :)

As usual, it is enjoyable when we run around the town and able to sight see Ipoh town .. but it get tougher when we come to the highway as highway is always dry and boring that you can only a long road with many runners and have nothing to sightsee.. I only have the chance to run with the woman champion in the open category ( a indian lady from Ipoh Brooks club) & Wai Man from pacesetter on the first 3k and was running alone with a lot of runners taking over me after that :) The suffering part is after the U turn point as I already feel tired, but still able to complete the race with partially walking and running.

Will have to say thank you to Yen Erl's friend --- Hui Yen and her bf for bringing us to Ipoh for this run and enjoy the nice food in Ipoh. Tau foo fah, ipoh ho fun, nga chai gai, local biscuit, salted chicken... we will be able to enjoy all this food without them :)

Gunung Datuk @ 1th May

1st of May is the labour day and we are all discipline citizen that follow the government rule that "not" be working on the labour day and went for a short hiking trip on Gunung Datuk, Rembau.

I slept at 3.30am on the night before due to David's unfinished ARMS.. anyway, still able to wake up at 5.30am before the rest of the hiking mates (Shirlee, Yen Erl, Jee Ing, Mei Chien) reached my house at 6.30am. We leave home at 6.45am and meet Kelvin and Ann at Senawang toll at 7.30am.

This is my 2nd time up to this hill and already set the expectation that it will be tough and steep in the beginning. I start with a more relax pace this round and take my time to hike to the top. Very fortune that Kelvin join us for this trip and he volunteer himself the be the sweeper and take care of the slowest hiker :)

Ah Tze and I take around 1 1/2 hr to reach the peak and the rest reach within the next 1/2 hr. It is misty on the peak this time and can't see much view and most of us afraid on going up the peak as we need to climb through the steep rock. Again, need to thank to Kelvin again who help all of us to reach the peak.

Going down is always the most difficult part of this climb as going down the steep rock really hurt our knee. Yen erl and tze are expert in going down hill now after the every weekend training in Gasing. Ann and I were pace together and after a few slip and fall , we slow down our speed and were very careful while going downhill .

All of us reach the car park by 2.30pm and we proceeds to lunch at Seremban. It is an enjoyable climb and all of us enjoys it especially Shirlee and Jee Ing ** .

Time to say goodbye

7 Days more to my last day in current company. That's go my 5 1/2 years .... I joined when I am 21will full of hope and energy, and now leaving with a tired body and mind.

Do you still remember how you feel on your 1st day at work ? Feeling shy and eating lunch with peoples that you dunno and not familiar with the topic they are discussing. You work because you feel like working, you view every task that assigned to you as a homework that you must master and complete on time. You never thought of the reward, you just want to pass your time and earn money to pay your car installment and have money to shop...

You continue to work and feel stress if you don't complete on time...You are afraid when your boss approach you, you feel bad when your senior said your don;t remember what he/she taught you .. hehe .. now think bout it , this is some experience that you will not encounter again as you will never be a fresh grad anymore :)

I joined the co. with the thought that I will be leaving anytime, either to Australia or Singapore. I get excited when I got my PR in Aus, and my excitement dissapear when I take on assignment Aus for 5 mths. Ben and I agree that our long distance relationship will be only 1 or 2 years but it turn up we are away for 5 years.. pretty amazing , right?

You start with doing work that does not really need to exercise your brain cell, and you take on more responsibilities .. You feel stress and you even meet accident just because you are thinking of work while driving.

That is so much that happen and it is nice to recall now as I will be leaving and does not need to worry bout the any open issues. I have my worst experience, but I also have my biggest achievement in here. I learn everyday and from an inexperience and naive girl turn to be the stronger me now... I know friends that really take care bout me, I see how people struggle and become a stronger person themselves.

What I can say now.. is thank you to everyone that work with me in these 5 1/2 years. I learn from every of you, I enjoy being with all of you and I am not certain how will be my life after leaving this familiar and comfortable environment.. but I believe each of us will need to have some changes at some stage and learn adapt to these changes ourselves. Good luck to me and each of you. :)

Happy 40th Year Wedding Anniversary to my Parents

Today is my parent's 40th Year wedding Anniversary, I wish them
身體健康﹐永遠幸福快樂! :)

I am glad that it is raining this evening and I had given up on my usual running and came back to have dinner with them.

I hope I am still writing this blog on my 40th year anniversary (11th Dec, year 2046).

Power Run

The last time I ran this road is during the last 10k of the KLIM full marathon, but had run this route multiples times in last year.. it is a sloppy , boring yet familiar route. As usual, woke up at 5am in the morning, did some warm up and strecthing and enjoy my favourite breakfast .. uncle toby bars :). Went to pick up Shirlee at Gasing around 6.30am and Yen erl around 6.45am.

Not a lot of familiar faces this round as most of runners are bored with 10k run and would want to do some serious training for the penang marathon. I think I will have to start training from next week onward , enough of 10k and should do some long distance in prepare for my 2nd full marathon in June.
I started slowly in the beginning of the run as I arrived late and did not have much time to warm up. During the run, I continously remind myself to enjoy the run and not rushing to reach the finishing point . When I hit the jalan duta , I am a bit worried as this is a long and boring road and I had suffered from here during my full marathon. Anyway, I forced myself to stay focus and keep my mind busy by thinking of a familiar song . I was staring on the road most of the time and try to forget how long is the road. Finally... I successful complete it without much walking and complete the run in 59mins. Huhu.. not a PB, but I m happy with the result :)
After the run , I went to Mid valley in the afternoon to buy the windbreaker for the KK trip. An enjoyable Sunday and I always wish every day is a Weekend . hehe, anyway... 10 more days and I will have my first long vacation in these 5 and 1/2 years... HOLIDAYS... it is like the finishing point of the run and I m so near to the finishing point but is struggling to continue to run now..

Orange Run

A 9km run , but I think it is 10km in actual. I will classify it as a difficult run as it has a lot of slope and not too much scenary on the way. However, the good thing bout it is it has a lot of goodies and a free Santa Barbara's back pack after the run. There is also nasi lemak, maggie mee given for free after the run.

I have completed the race in 57mins 18 secs which is worse than my timing in last week Polis run that I completed in 48mins 45 secs.. hee.. anyway, will have to thank to Kelvin that cheers me during the run and an uncle that push me to complete the run . Will always try to remember " enjoy the run is more important than the result". - from IMD :)

Gunung Nuang

Have been a very crazy weekend. Weekend is always the favourite day of the week because the whole 24 hours belong to you and you can decide how to spend them ..

14th April

Gunung Nuang

Feel very happy that 11 out 18 of our KK trip members join for this hiking trip. Tony Q recommended to only hike until Kemp Pacat as Yen Erl and I are joining the orange run on Sunday. This will be my 3rd time to Nuang and I was under the impression that CT had brought us to Kemp Pacat all this while and tell my team confidently that this will be a very easy hike... hehe.. I just found out that the waterfall that we always reach is Kemp Lolo after Tony brief us on the trail before we start. Anyway, due to I have not been to Kemp Pacat before, can't really imagine how tough is it and just take it as an additional 1 or 2 hrs hike compare with previous hike and start the hiking happily.....

Maybe after the weekly training in Gasing and hiking in Bukit Datuk a few weeks ago, the hike from the beginning to Kemp Lolo was apparently a very easy hike for me and I enjoy the scenary and the chatting with Tze, Yen Erl, Ezreen :)

Once we reached Lolo, Cham start complaining and wanted to stop in Lolo. However, due to our target for today is Kemp Pacat, I refuse to let anyone stop and tell everyone must continue to hike up. hehe.. This is where the nightmare start .... from the moment where we start hiking up from Lolo , they are endless slopes and never able to see the end of it. After half an hour, we met Siok Bee and her gang coming down , my sis and I were so happy and ask them are we going to reach yet.... unluckily thier reply were " since we are not going to KK, thus we decided not to train so hard and hike up to Kemp Pacat since Kemp Pacat has no waterfall and scenary at all " . I can see the dissapointment from my sis's face at that moment. Anyway, I tell her "let's don;t think so much and continue our journey" and I also ask Siok Bee to give me a favour by not telling my teammate the truth and tell them she has reached Pacat and is going down now. :) This really works because I can hear Cham's voice from far away that "let continue since we are going to reach soon "

The road is really getting tougher when we move up and it took nearly another 1 hr to reach Pacat. I left Tze with Yen Erl and Lai Dee and hiking with Ezreen all the way up to Pacat. Tony arrived Pacat just 10 mins later and told us that all my team members do not turn back and continue to hike up. I feel so proud for them especially first time climber like Ki Woei, Jee Ing , Poh Wai, Bee Hong and Fatma. All of us successfully reach Pacat and stay until 1.45pm and start our journey down again.

Going down hill had been a tough job for most of them due to the improper shoes and insufficient training. However, the best part of hiking is once you hike up, you must get yourself down and no chance for giving up or stop in between or even think of taking a cab back :) Thus, all of us succesfully reach the bottom at 4.30pm. It has been very exciting and memorable trip for me and I hope for everyone too..

My target for next trip will be the Peak which need to another 2 hrs to hike up and even more sloppy than the trail we have been through !!
